Question: Revealing of sins
In reference to the hadith below:
The Prophet S.A.W. said: “All of my Ummah will be forgiven except those who expose (their sins). Exposing means that a man commits a sin at night and then - after Allah conceals his sin - in the morning, he tells people that he had done such and such a thing at night. He spent the night while His Lord covered his sin and then he wakes up in the morning revealing the curtain of His Lord.” (Al Bukhari & Muslim)
Does that mean that I should not have posts such asĀ this, this and this? Anybody?

assalamu alaykum.
i definitely don’t think there’s anything wrong with posting something like the first and second (i haven’t read the third as it’s too long, haha).
Because you’re talking about repentance from these things, you’re not bragging about them. It also has a lot of value for us, because it makes us think of our own worship, and the words that come out of our own mouths. Like what you said about the rain.. it makes you worry about ever cursing anything that Allah has ordained, which keeps you mindful of Allah at all times, and that is great.
And what you said about the stories and the talk to entertain ppl. It reminded me of the talk of a great scholar of the Qur’anic language, style, who has written the best English translation i’ve seen. He was talking about how the Qur’an emphasizes the fact that Paradise has no “laghw”, or worthless talk. This is emphasized at the beginning of many descriptions of Jannah, and goes to show us how important it is for us to watch our speech here in this world.
However it’s more serious sins that I would never mention, even after repenting from them, if Allah has kept them hidden. Things like stealing, zina, being bad to parents, that kind of stuff.

I would agree with nuruddinzangi. Your posts have worth to others…helps us all to be mindful. May Allah bless your efforts.

Jazzakallahu khairan brother nuruddin and sister khaalidah.
I shall take your advice. Maybe perhaps, I should just be extra careful with how I put things into words, and try to steer away from committing any sins in relation to the revealing of sins.
